Project Description
Water supply for Monrovia (Liberia): during and after the civil war (November 2001)

The production and distribution of water from the main treatment plant of White Plains has been disrupted many times between 1990 and 2001. Disruption of power supply was the mainly reason for the outage and several emergency operations were implemented to cope with the poor supply. The role of the European Union, and that of other organisations, has been of paramount importance to maintain a minimum water supply during this difficult period. The article describes how water has been produced, conveyed and distributed to the inhabitants of the town.
